PROBLEM
In the realm of Skill Development and Livelihoods, a critical missing piece is the inclusion of marginalised communities, granting them avenues for meaningful economic and social empowerment. Despite the existence of a diverse array of skilling programs spanning 38 sectors, only a mere 10% cater to individuals with education up to the 8th grade, with none tailored for the illiterate. This stark absence of customised models designed specifically for marginalised groups—such as survivors of trafficking, transgender persons, and women—perpetuates exclusion, hindering their ability to access economic opportunities and exercise agency. Moreover, the scarcity of gainful employment opportunities exacerbates the existing barriers to their reintegration into society and the realisation of their full potential.

SOLUTION
In response to this profound disparity, Space2Grow, in collaboration with various stakeholders, has embarked on a transformative initiative. This initiative involves the development and design of a multi-stakeholder program comprising technical experts, implementing agencies, and investment partners. The primary goal is to equip marginalised communities with essential skills, confidence, basic literacy, counseling support, computer literacy, and life skills. Through a comprehensive six-month program, participants are not only provided with technical skills but are also empowered to break free from cycles of exploitation and pursue sustainable economic opportunities.
SIGNIFICANT IMPACT
The impact of this program has been nothing short of profound. Within this tailored program specifically designed for marginalised communities—including survivors of trafficking, youths, and women—participants have found themselves poised to reclaim their futures with newfound confidence and determination. Acting as a vital bridge, the program has enabled survivors to access various skill training schemes under Skill India, thereby unlocking pathways to economic independence and empowerment.
Their aspirations, ranging from legal advocacy to community leadership, underscore the transformative potential of targeted interventions and collaborative efforts. Addressing a critical gap within existing skill missions, the program offers a much-needed pathway for low-literate or non-literate individuals. By equipping survivors with foundational skills and fostering confidence, the program not only facilitates their integration into the workforce but also empowers them to pursue futures filled with promise. As articulated by one survivor within the program, "I am determined to win, and this program has afforded me the opportunity to respect myself and create avenues for earning that will further bolster my trust and confidence within the community."
In essence, Space2Grow's initiative represents a hope for marginalised communities, providing them with the tools and resources necessary to break free from cycles of exploitation and realise their full potential.
